Introduction
This policy explains what information Sheer Safe collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, to the enquiries you send us, and to the business emails we send to people we think we can help.
Information we collect
When you contact us or request a security review, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, email, company, and message.
When you visit our site, we and our analytics tools may collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view.
How we use information
Business outreach
Sometimes we email people at companies we think we can help, before they have contacted us. This section explains how that works.
Who we contact. People in technology, engineering and security leadership roles (for example CTOs, CISOs and heads of engineering) at software and technology companies. We contact them at their work email address about security and compliance services that relate to their role. We don’t use personal email addresses.
What we use. Your name, work email address, job title, and your company’s name, website, industry and size. We also check public sources to see whether your company already holds a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification, so our message is relevant. We record whether our emails were delivered, whether you replied, and whether you unsubscribed.
Where it comes from. We get these details from Apollo.io, a business contact database, and from your company’s public website.
Why we’re allowed to. We rely on our legitimate interest in telling businesses about services that are relevant to them. We have assessed that this does not override your interests, because we only contact people whose role the service relates to, we send a small number of messages, and you can stop them at any time. In the UK and EU we also follow the rules on electronic marketing to business addresses.
How long we keep it. If you don’t reply, we delete your details about 90 days after our last email. If you ask us to stop, we keep only your email address on a do-not-contact list, indefinitely, so we never contact you again. If you reply with interest, we handle your details the same way as any other enquiry.
Who we share it with. Only the service providers that run our outreach: Apollo.io (contact data), Smartlead (sending email), Google Workspace (our mailboxes) and GitHub (where our outreach automation runs). Some of these providers are based outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard for these transfers.
Your right to object. You can ask us to stop at any time, and we will. Use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, reply “no thanks”, or write to hello@sheersafe.com. We apply your request across all our outreach, not only the campaign you received.
Your other rights. You can also ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or complain to your data protection authority. In Ireland that is the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie). In the UK it is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). We’d appreciate the chance to sort out any concern first at hello@sheersafe.com.
Sharing
We share information only with the service providers that help us operate, such as hosting and analytics, and only as needed. We may disclose information where required by law.
Cookies and analytics
Our site uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how it is used and to improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described here, or as required by law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@sheersafe.com. You also have the right to object to our use of your information for marketing at any time, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
