What this covers
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on www.sheersafe.com — what each one does, how long it lasts, and how to change your mind. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which covers personal information more broadly.
How we ask
Nothing optional runs until you choose. When you first arrive, every category except the strictly necessary one is switched off, and it stays off unless you turn it on. Accepting and rejecting take the same single click — refusing is never made harder than agreeing.
We ask everyone, wherever they are, rather than only where the law requires it. The choice should be the same for every visitor.
Strictly necessary
One cookie, ss_consent, records the choice you make so we do not ask again on every page. It holds your categories, the version of this policy you were shown, a timestamp, and a random identifier that is not linked to your name or email. It lasts six months. This one cannot be switched off, because without it we cannot remember that you said no.
Analytics
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity help us see which pages people read and where they get stuck. GA4 sets _ga and _ga_* for up to two years. Clarity sets _clck and _clsk, and CLID and MUID on clarity.ms. We never send names, email addresses, or anything you type into a form to these tools.
Marketing
If you allow marketing, Google Ads sets _gcl_au for about 90 days to tell whether an ad brought you here, and the LinkedIn Insight Tag sets li_sugr, bcookie and lidc to measure our campaigns and reach visitors who showed interest. Turning this off changes nothing about what you see on this site.
Embedded content
We reserve a fourth category for content hosted elsewhere — video, scheduling, and forms — because those providers can set their own cookies once they load. We do not embed any of it today. If that changes we will list it here and ask you again, rather than relying on a choice you made before it existed.
Changing your choices
You can change your mind at any time, and you do not need to clear anything to do it. If you switch a category off after having it on, we delete the cookies that category set.
Our record of your choice
Data protection law asks us to be able to show that consent was given, so we keep a record of the choice itself: the categories, the policy version, a timestamp, the random identifier from your cookie, and the country the request came from. We store a one-way hash of your IP address and browser rather than the values themselves, and we keep these records for three years. Refusals are recorded exactly as agreement is.
